The Top Places on Two Charts are Occupied by Twenty One Pilots

Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun keep making history of their existence by leading on Pop Songs and Alternative Songs Charts. Two different songs helped them to win: “Ride” (1-2 on Pop Songs and Alternative Songs have “Heathens” at 1-3 place).

At the same time, they hold the 6th place to the throne of Nielsen Music list. Even if stars manage to get the first place on two charts they usually do it with one and the same song. However, Twenty One Pilots set a new bar to singers. It took 11 years to cut the record of Green Day who got a double victory with “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”. They were holding this title for a month in 2005. To be more precise, the song was a chart-topping during 16 weeks, including a month’s leading on Pop Songs.

Here is an excerpt where double victories on Pop Songs and Alternative Songs Charts have been recorded (though only Twenty One Pilots have triumphed with the two singles):

  1. Twenty One Pilots, “Ride” and “Heathens” (2016)
  2. Green Day “Boulevard of Broken Dreams (2005)
  3. Sugar Ray “Every Morning” (1999)
  4. Goo Goo Dolls “Iris” (1998)
  5. Chumbawamba “Tubthumping” (1997)
  6. Alanis Morissette “Ironic” (1996)

Pop Songs chart was launched in October 1992 while Alternative Songs had been launched in September 1998. This year Alternative Songs Chart has celebrated its 28th anniversary which have been marked with a great achievement. Twenty One Pilots test to it: their three songs (“Heathens”, “Ride” and “Stressed Out”) were chart-topping in 2016. It has become the second registered case in Alternative Songs’ history. The first triumph took place in 2009. Kings of Leon with “Sex on Fire”, “Notion” and “Use Somebody” occupied it in the same year.

“Ride” and “Stressed Out” are in the album Blurryface (got atop in June, 2015 on Billboard 200 Chart). “Heathens” has become a soundtrack for the Suicide Squad. The song got into the Billboard 200 and spent 2 weeks there.

Twenty One Pilots are often called “a musical phenomenon” who go on conquering the world. Tyler and Josh seem to be mighty opponents on Charts and stage as well. It can be said for sure, the guys are not deprived of fans’ love. The more we love them (i.e. visiting their awesome concert tour, buy twenty one pilots tickets here) the more they surprise us.
